The Vendor Management System for Philips, Singapore

This software is an Intranet project developed by SPA for PHILIPS (Singapore) and PHILIPS (Batam - Indonesia). This system enables employees to order products from a wide choice of products from this site, which is maintained at the company's Intranet server, and the PO is generated after checking of the credit limit and the budget of the employee. Sending the PO does then ordering by e-mail to the respective suppliers. After the receipt of the ordered goods the DO is generated and invoices are sent to the supplier and the accounts department.

This system also provides for the updating of suppliers and various products of a supplier. The user can search for a particular product with a search engine or may find the product by browsing through a hierarchy of category, subcategory etc.

This system is interfaced and synchronized with the accounts system that was already in use through a mapper. Visual Interdev-6.0 was the development tool used for the project.

The implementation was carried out using Internet Information Server and MTS. This system was designed and implemented as a 3-Tired system. SQL Server (7.0) was used as the backend for database management.

The Business Layer (middle tier) was formulated in COM with Visual Basic (6.0) as ActiveX DLLs and was invoked from the Active Server Pages through MTS. The Presentation Layer (Front-end) is in ASP and HTML.
